Applications for The Law Society’s Diversity Access Scheme (DAS) 2021 – “a scholarship with a difference” – opened on Monday 1 March.
Offering 10 scholarships annually, the DAS aims to address “three fundamental obstacles to fair access – finance, professional contacts and opportunities to gain work experience”. As such, awardees will receive funding for either the Legal Practice Course or Solicitors Qualifying Exam prep course and exam fees, access to a professional mentor and high-quality placements organised via the Law Society.
The DAS is open to talented aspiring solicitors from non-traditional backgrounds of all ages, races and ethnicities, gender identities, sexual orientations and students with disabilities.
Aspiring lawyers will have until midnight on Sunday 25 April 2021 to apply for the scheme.
For more information on how to apply, visit the Law Society’s website. And to find out how to support the DAS via sponsorship, mentoring or work placements, or for general enquiries about applying for a DAS award contact the Law Society via email.
