Addleshaw Goddard in talks to merge with Scots firm HBJ Gateley

updated on 16 November 2016

International law firm Addleshaw Goddard has announced merger plans with Scotland-based HBJ Gateley.

The merged firm will keep the Addleshaw Goddard name and would have a combined revenue of over £220 million, which the Law Gazette reports would make it the firm with the 15th biggest income in the United Kingdom. The merger would also create a firm of 1,100 lawyers and 200 partners, across 11 offices in the United Kingdom, the Middle East and Asia.

Malcolm McPherson, HBJ Gateley’s senior partner, said: “Our exploratory talks progressed very quickly as the complementary nature of our teams and geographical presence became apparent.”

Neither firm is expected to make further comment until the merger talks conclude.
