CoL and CMS announce International LPC

The College of Law (CoL) and European law firm CMS Cameron McKenna (CMS) have together announced the launch of a bespoke Legal Practice Course (LPC) tailored toward training in international and corporate legal services. The move is part of an arrangement which makes the CoL the exclusive provider of all legal training courses for CMS's future trainees. Subject to the approval of the Solicitors Regulation Authority, the tailored LPC will be taught at CoL's Moorgate centre in 2013.
The International LPC will mainly focus on preparing students to work on multijurisdictional transactions, as well as providing other legal frameworks to align students' training with the main practice areas of CMS. The firm recruits up to 60 trainees every year, and has 13 offices across the United Kingdom, mainland Europe and further afield.
Sarah Hutchinson, CoL's board member in charge of business development, said: "We believe the next generation of LPCs must prepare young lawyers for global legal practice while still providing the core skills and knowledge to meet the domestic agenda. Whether they are transactional lawyers or litigators, our trainees are increasingly operating across national boundaries. We are pleased to join forces with CMS in the launch of this ground-breaking course which will give trainees a better preparation for global practice."
