The Supreme Court has embraced the digital age, and is now live streaming its proceedings over the Internet. The aim is to make the process - and the court - more transparent and accessible.
As reported in Legal Week, the stream went live on the Sky News website on 16 May. Lord Neuberger had recommended in March that hearings from the Supreme Court and Court of Appeal should be televised. It is the only British court to where hearings are televised live.
The court has stipulated that on rare occasions, the broadcast may be suspended, and that judges will have the right of veto over what can be transmitted.
