CPS announces that it is hiring trainees again

In exciting news for those of you keen on a life of public prosecution, the CPS has announced that it is relaunching its Legal Trainee Scheme and will be offering 15 training contracts or pupillages to candidates who have already completed their vocational training (LPC or BPTC) or are due to complete it in the 2011-12 academic year.

The CPS froze its trainee/pupil scheme in October 2009, under public funding pressures. As reported in Lawyer2B, Director of Public Prosecutions Keir Starmer QC said: "This scheme will offer trainees an unrivalled chance to undertake challenging, varied and important work, with a view to building a career prosecuting cases for the CPS at the highest levels." According to Lawyer2B, after October 2012 the CPS plans to open up the scheme to those who have not yet completed their vocational training, and will be offering financial assistance for the LPC/BPTC.
