BPP University College is offering a last chance to undertake a law degree at the current rate of £3,225 per year before increases in course fees are implemented in September. The "career ready" degrees, which also include accountancy and business qualifications, will start in May 2012 and can be taken over two or three years. Under the two-year fast track option a law degree would cost a total of £6,450 - a figure that will soon be insufficient to cover a year's study at many institutions.
The courses are taught from city-centre locations in Birmingham, London and Manchester - making them ideal for mature students as well as those with a focus on moving into a career during these austere times. Enrolling in the course also entitles students to specialised careers advice, both during and up to a year after their course. These fast-track degrees also do not exclude students from utilising student loans.
Carl Lygo, chief executive of BPP University, said: "One of the reasons we are offering May start degrees is to provide a service for a neglected section of the education and training space - the adult worker. The recent UCAS application figures showed the number of mature students appears to be falling in the wake of the 2012 fee hikes. Hopefully, our May start programmes will show there are alternatives for those looking to switch careers and get a degree before they are financially out of reach."
