Lucy Scott-Moncrieff was inaugurated as the new president of the Law Society at its annual general meeting on 5 July. Scott-Moncrieff is the managing partner of Scott-Moncrieff and Associates LLP, a virtual law firm which utilises lawyers from other practices to undertake legal aid work. Affectionately dubbed the "virtual lawyer", Scott-Moncrieff is a practitioner in mental health and human rights law.
Her tenure is predicted to focus on helping solicitors to cope with the difficulties presented by the current economic climate. Scott-Moncrieff will also continue efforts to expand accessibility and diversity within the profession.
Upon her inauguration, she said: "Law is a highly diverse profession in all respects, with our members coming from all walks of life and specialising in varied fields of law. I aim to ensure that we reach out to all sections of the profession throughout England and Wales and internationally."
