SRA creates online enrolment system for students

updated on 11 March 2011

On 2 March the SRA launched a new online service which makes it quicker and easier for law students to enrol with the regulatory body as student members - a prerequisite before starting the LPC.

Students are being encouraged to register and apply for enrolment as soon as possible, particularly as no reminders to do so are sent out. Enrolment and confirmation from the SRA that the academic stage of a student's training has been completed will cost £80.

This is the first step in a process that will eventually see all solicitors registering with the SRA online. Marc Baker, the SRA's director of transformation, said: "We are launching a new tool designed to improve the way we communicate and engage with our community. It is about reducing the amount of paper-based form-filling, saving solicitors and students time, as well as making the whole process of engaging with the regulator easier for professionals."
