There's cause to celebrate for the majority of SNR Denton's Spring 2011 qualifying trainees, as the firm reveals that it has positions for 11 out of the 14-strong intake. This will give the firm a retention rate of 79% - a vast improvement on the Spring 2010 figure of 14%. Graduate recruitment partner Jeremy Cape told The Lawyer: "Rather than seeing it as a turnaround, we're back on trend with what we usually expect to be offering. We're very happy to be in a position to offer jobs to the vast majority of our qualifiers, seeking always to raise the standards at every level across the firm."
Unfortunately, however, the future is not so rosy for trainees across the board, with some firms reporting a drop in the numbers they are retaining. CMS Cameron McKenna will be keeping on 60% of its Spring 2011 qualifiers - it has 19 jobs to offer to 30 trainees; while Hogan Lovells' rate has dropped to 66% from 81% the previous Spring.
