The Bar Standards Board has announced that the minimum award for pupils, starting in September 2011, will go up to £12,000 per year. As reported in The Lawyer, the £2,000 rise was approved by the Legal Standards Board and will take effect as of 1 September 2011.
The announcement comes at the same time as the SRA is expected to announce that the minimum amount payable to trainees will remain frozen at the same level it has been since 2009. Trainees will be able to expect a minimum of £16,650, rising to £18,590 for those in London.
