Firms advise football clubs on Olympic stadium bid

updated on 09 February 2011

As reported in Legal Week, law firms Eversheds, HBJ Gateley Wareing and Trowers & Hamlins are advising football clubs Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham on their competing bids to take over the 2012 Olympic stadium when the games finish. Eversheds is acting for Olympic Park Legacy Company, Trowers is advising Newham Council (where the Stratford stadium is located) and HBJ Gately Wareing is advising West Ham. Specialist property firm CKFT is representing Tottenham.

Both football clubs have faced criticism over their bids. A group of Tottenham supporters protested against a move away from the club's current North London stadium at White Hart Lane; while West Ham, which is currently at the bottom of the Premier League, might not bring in the crowds to fill the venue if relegated.
