BPP law school students will soon have more flexibility in how they pay for their law courses when extended payment options come into effect from September 2011. Students on the provider's GDL and LPC programmes will be able to spread their payments out over four rather two instalments throughout the year, while those on the part-time courses will be eligible to make eight rather than four payments. Part-time BPTC students will also have the option of making eight payments spread out over the course of the programme; no alternative will be offered to those on the full-time course, with the number of instalments remaining at three.
BPP chief executive Peter Crisp said: "We are keen to support our students and enable them to spread the cost of their studies. This is just one of the initiatives that we are introducing in order to give as much flexibility as possible. We are also looking at a range of financial providers following NatWest's withdrawal of its professional trainee loan scheme. Today's students are increasingly faced with the question of affordability, and we hope that this payment method, along with other initiatives including our scholarship programmes, will go towards encouraging rather than deterring people from entering the legal profession."
