The College of Law (CoL) has launched two new scholarships aimed at students starting the BPTC in autumn 2012. On offer is one full scholarship which covers all course fees, plus a runner-up amounting to £2,000 towards the cost of the course.
The news follows the launch of the CoL's first scholarship for its new undergraduate law degree, which will be available when the course commences in September. This is in addition to existing scholarships for aspiring solicitors undertaking the LPC, as well as a scholarship for non-law graduates enrolling in the GDL.
Professor Nigel Savage, the CoL's chief executive, said: "It is in the interests of the legal profession, and the application of justice in this country, that the Bar is open to all and reflects the diversity of the community that it serves. Our new BPTC scholarships will help to make a career as a barrister more accessible to the most ambitious and talented students."
If you wish to apply for the CoL's BPTC scholarships, you will need to submit an essay or video presentation on the subject of: "The modern Bar: diverse and open to all?" The submission deadline is 27 March 2012. For further information, see the funding page on the CoL's website.
