Student conference, CityLawLIVE, will "connect talent with the City"

updated on 04 November 2011

A new conference aimed at anyone hoping to land a training contract with one of the international firms in the City has been announced. Due to be held on Saturday 25 February 2012, the one-day CityLawLIVE conference is for law students and those thinking about converting to law.

The event aims to boost participants' knowledge on issues that include the following:

  • What is the City?
  • What sort of companies and industries do its law firms work for?
  • What do City lawyers do for their clients?
  • Who do these firms want to recruit?
  • How are big law firms managed and structured?
  • What issues do they face in the changing world economy?
  • Do City careers leave time for a personal life and family?
  • How do you become an in-house lawyer for a large corporate?
  • How can improve your chances of securing a training contract?

Anna Williams, CityLawLIVE organiser and LawCareers.Net's research manager, said: "CityLawLIVE has one simple mission: connecting talent with the City. We will give you direct access to recruitment partners and senior level management at leading City firms, and the conference is a truly unique opportunity to network. Our sponsor firms include Ashurst, Baker & McKenzie, Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer and White & Case, with more firms to be announced soon. Freshfields will be offering a CV surgery and five of our sponsor firms will lead workshops on different aspects of City and international legal practice. CityLawLIVE is a great opportunity for students of all universities to get that one step closer to a top commercial training contract. Don't miss out!"

Full details of the conference programme and how to apply for one of the 200 student delegate places are on the CitylawLIVE website at www.citylawlive.com. Anna recommends that you make your application this term, but you needn't wait until the event on 25 February to benefit. CityLawLIVE runs a commercial awareness newsfeed on Twitter and Facebook, offering well-sourced commercial and legal news stories to help prepare you for your training contract search.
