Magic circle firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer is offering university students the chance to attend a two-day international workshop on 4 April and 5 April 2011. The first day will take place in the firm's London office and will include an introduction from a partner, a tour of the office and talks from Freshfields trainees who have been on client secondments. Day two will be spent in the firm's Amsterdam office, where students will participate in a commercial case study, receive presentations from local associates and go on an organised tour of the city.
Freshfields trainee recruitment partner Simon Johnson said: "In all our workshops, what we want is to show students as much as we can of what it's like to work at Freshfields. What this means, more than ever, is work which crosses jurisdictions. Students who come on this particular workshop will get something of a flavour of life on secondment. At some point during their training, most of our trainees leave our home in Fleet Street to spend a few months on secondment. The secondment could be to work in a client's office, or in one of our own offices overseas. So students need to find out what these experiences are really like. That's what this workshop is all about."
There are approximately 12 places available. To apply, submit a detailed CV and cover letter to the firm by 18 February 2011. Shortlisted applicants will go on to complete a brief telephone interview before earning a place.
