Pro bono charity LawWorks named the winners of its annual awards at a dinner on 23 June at the Law Society. The awards were judged over eight categories by an independent panel comprising former solicitor general Vera Baird QC, Law Society President Linda Lee and Guardian Law editor Ros Taylor.
Among the winners were Charles Russell LLP, which took Best Contribution by a Law Firm (Eversheds LLP was Highly Commended); Muckle LLP, which won Best Contribution by a Regional Law Firm; and Visa, which bagged Best Contribution by an In-House Team. Shoosmiths and Communicare won the Partnership in Pro Bono award.
The Junior Lawyers Division Pro Bono Award went to Shireen Irani for developing i-ProBono - an independent not-for-profit organisation connecting organisations in need of legal assistance with lawyers and students who want to use their legal skills.
Full details of the winners' activities and a list of shortlisted nominees are available on the LawWorks website.
