The Pegasus Access Scheme (PAS), a social mobility initiative for prospective barristers, is now open for applications.
The scheme, launched in March 2012 by Inner Temple, seeks to ensure all high-achieving students who wish to pursue a career at the Bar have the opportunity to complete work experience, regardless of their background. Students who have experienced difficulties securing mini-pupillages are matched with partner chambers; there are currently 60 chambers participating in PAS.
No 5 Chambers was the most recent chambers to sign up to the scheme, ready for the 2013-14 application round. Other partners include Blackstone Chambers, Serle Court and 11 Stone Buildings.
Students wishing to participate in the scheme can find further details and apply online. The application system closes at 5:00pm on Friday 11 October. The website lists the eligibility requirements in full, but preference for participation will be given to students who have taken part in one of the following programmes:
