Several law firms are rewarding their staff with extra pay or holiday as a ‘thank you’ for their efforts during the pandemic.
International firm DLA Piper is offering staff either a week’s additional pay or extra holiday, the Law Gazette reports. Simon Levine, global co-chief executive, said of the firm’s employees: “Their fortitude, supportiveness and collaboration with colleagues, clients and our communities has been remarkable. The extra week’s pay or holiday is just one small way of us saying thank you to them for everything they have achieved in such a challenging year.”
Fellow City firm Hogan Lovells is thanking associate, trainee and business support staff with a ‘covid bonus’ equal to 5% of their salaries in June, according to Legal Cheek, the same percentage as that being awarded to lawyers and support staff at Allen & Overy. Meanwhile, Ashurst is distributing £1,000 each to staff in recognition of their “extraordinary contributions” during a challenging year.
National firm Irwin Mitchell is rewarding staff with a 3% bonus and has repaid the money it received from the government’s furlough scheme, amidst rumours of an upcoming float on the stock market.
