The first set of dates for sittings of the Solicitors Qualifying Exam (SQE) have been announced.
The SQE is a new system of exams for prospective solicitors and is divided into two stages – SQE1 and SQE2. SQE1 assessments will take place on 8 and 11 November 2021, with SQE2 sittings due to take place in April 2022. There will initially be two available sittings for each exam per year.
SQE1 consists of around 10 hours of exams to be completed across two days, while SQE2 will take about 14 hours across five half days.
The SQE will replace the Legal Practice Course in September 2021.
