More firms release encouraging retention figures

Following on from news that trainee retention rates are generally improving, a further six firms have announced healthy rates for their most recent group of 2012 qualifiers.

As reported in Legal Week, the details are as follow:

  • Norton Rose is retaining 78% of its January 2012 trainees, amounting to 18 NQs being offered a position at the firm.
  • Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer has offered 42 of its 46 February NQs a place at the firm, equalling an 89% retention rate.
  • BLP has offered jobs to 88% of its January NQs, holding on to 15 out of 17.
  • Allen & Overy has offered 52 out of 57 NQs a place, which at 89% is a slight increase on the equivalent intake last year (84%).
  • SJ Berwin is taking on all of its eight March 2012 NQs, at an impressive 100%. This compares to just 67% of the equivalent intake last year.
  • Stephenson Harwood has retained 83% - five out of six - of its March 2012 qualifiers.
