Queen Mary, University of London has announced the launch of a new flexible, English-language LLM in Paris. The course was established following the success of the university's London-based LLM and is a result of long-term collaboration between Queen Mary's Centre for Commercial Law Studies and the University of London Institute in Paris (ULIP).
The programme starts in January 2013 and will have two intakes a year in January and September. Queen Mary academics, as well as visiting French lecturers and lawyers, will teach the course in English at ULIP's office in central Paris, near the Esplanade des Invalides. Course content will range across common law but students will be given the opportunity to develop a commercial specialism. The programme is touted as highly beneficial to aspiring lawyers who want to work for or with multinational corporations.
The LLM's academic director, Dr Maxi Scherer, said: "This course will provide students with in-depth immersion in commercial law from both comparative and international perspectives, within a common law framework. We appreciate that for many students, improving their command of legal English is a vital part of undertaking an LLM and we have therefore incorporated legal English support throughout the course."
